A summer party is the last place Lydia Flowers expected to be—she’d rather be home practicing her wicked fast ball. Worse, her preacher father would freak if he learned she’s hanging out with seventeen-year-old Abe Fischer. Abe’s famous since he won the Nashville’s Teen Idol competition, but everyone knows he’s a lip-syncing druggie with a short fuse who lives to party. Except Abe’s nothing like the guy Lydia’s read about online. He’s sweet and sentimental; loves writing songs and riding his horse. If Lydia can find a way past his strict no-dating policies, she just might lose her heart to the dreamy-eyed crooner.

Life throws Lydia and Abe a curve ball when they are wrongfully arrested for destruction of property. Her choices? Work on the Fischer Farm beside Abe or the arrest goes on her record and ruins her shot at a softball scholarship. With few options, Lydia agrees to a summer of indentured servitude working side-by-side with Abe and their initial dislike turns to attraction. When the press gets wind of the secret Abe’s family has been keeping from him, he will have to risk pushing Lydia away and striking out in the ultimate game of his life. Lydia will have to decide if Abe’s messed up life in the spotlight is worth risking her heart and the scholarship of her dreams.

Left Hanging – Adult Contemporary Romance

Darla and Theo had one incredible roll in the hay the night before college graduation. Now she’s pregnant, but there’s one big problem. They never exchanged real names, so she can’t find him to tell him about the baby. Then things take an unfortunate turn when Darla’s college roommate sends an email to everyone she knows announcing her new love – which turns out to be none other than Theo. Not ideal, but at least Darla has his name and an email address to deliver the news. Unbeknownst to Darla, however, the address actually belongs to Theo’s brother, who believes the message to be a joke and replies with a curt ‘leave me alone.’ This leaves Darla thinking that Theo has no interest in her… or their unborn child.

Seven years later, kid-at-heart, game-loving Theo lands back in Nashville to complete his medical training. When their paths cross again on his first day at orientation, Darla is completely confused; Theo isn’t acting like the deadbeat dad portrayed in the email she received while she was pregnant. In fact, he seems very interested in picking up with Darla where they left off, and absolutely clueless about their little darling.

Without Darla’s knowledge or permission, her best friend sends Theo anonymous hints in the form of a Hangman puzzle that will spell out that he has a daughter. Time spent with Darla awards him letters for the puzzle and it doesn’t take a cardiologist to read the electrical impulses generated when they are together. But before the puzzle is solved and Darla can confess that he’s a father, their daughter becomes severely ill and the truth is exposed: Theo thought Darla left him hanging all those years ago. But despite his broken heart, Darla hopes he won’t do the same when they need him the most.

Champagne Jam – Romantic Comedy Screenplay

Money can be the biggest gift or the worst curse, depending on the circumstances.  We’ve all dreamed of what we would do if we won the lottery.  Well, what if granny wins the lottery and leaves it to you?  Sounds great, except with granny, there’s got to be a catch.

Champagne Jam is about a girl’s journey toward inheriting granny’s lottery winnings.  All she has to do is move to a sleepy Georgia town, work in the family’s craft store and fit in or it all goes to the church.  Small towns are notorious for everybody knowing everyone’s business, which doesn’t set too well for Andie, who spent most of her life in Boston.  She befriends the local deputy, who is far from the typical Barney Fife and allows herself to get too close.  Her goal is simple; finish out the summer and sell off the property.  It is not her problem if the entire downtown will fold and be made into the latest discount super mart.  And no man who she is falling in love with can make her change her mind…. or can he?

Stuck – Romantic Comedy Screenplay

The romantic cruise that Nick and Chrissy have won promises to be the perfect getaway, until a nasty breakup ruins their plans.  Not wanting to turn down a free vacation, they find themselves stuck in the same cabin for seven days. Can the spray of the ocean breeze make love come crashing back into their hearts… or will it just rub salt into old wounds?

Sister Soldier – Historical Romance (Novel and Adapted Screenplay)

Annie doesn’t let the American Civil War stand in the way of being near her twin brother. She cuts her hair, dons a grey uniform and fights alongside Albert. His regiment keeps her secret until she is injured on the battlefield and her fiance is the soldier in blue that finds her dirty, crumpled body.

New Beginnings – Contemporary Romance

Less than a year into her marriage, Tara loses her husband in a car wreck. Nothing, not even the best of friends can get her out of her mourning. But when a health psychologist befriends her, she begins to come back to life. Caleb doesn’t do anything special – he eats lunch with her, lets her talk about her dead husband, takes her to the movies – anything she wants to do. And it isn’t long before she feels the guilty pangs of attraction toward Caleb.

On the anniversary of her husband’s death, Caleb professes his love for her. The guilt rushes back and she pushes him away. In her sadness and not in her right mind, she allows Ian, her late husband’s best-friend to comfort her. He’s always had a thing for her, even when she was married.

Now Tara is pregnant with Ian’s baby and she’s torn between being committed to the father of her child and giving her heart completely to the only man that’s ever been perfect for, even more so than her husband.

Life hasn’t been fair to her, but maybe a New Beginning can change her heartache into something exquisite.

I’m Still Stunned

2015 was a wild ride as far as my writing was concerned. I started out trying to find a home for my adult contemporary novel, Left Hanging, and ended up with a publishing contract for my YA novel, Tuned Into You. Yep. It was a year with more ups and downs than the Great American […]
